Biography – I was born in Lower Town Fishguard, Pembrokeshire. As a child I saw adventure mystery and beauty in everything and everywhere , whether it was Fishguard Quay with its colourful fishing cottages all in a row, to battered weather worn trawlers that leant on the quay wall at low tide waiting for the tide to turn  …I was truly inspired.
Growing up in such a beautiful part of Wales I have tried to mimic the landscapes and views in my paintings and drawings, rugged ancient burial mounds and mountains that inspire legends, coastal beaches and waters with and ink blotched skies with light that changes minute by minute and it is because of this diverse landscape that the only problem I have encountered in painting Pembrokeshire is what to chose to paint first as I always feel like a child in a sweetie shop for the first time bombarded with the most amazing sights, smells, sounds and myriad of jewelled colours that I see and still appreciate every day.

I was introduced to making art as a young teenager by the artist John Cleal who lived in Lower Town, being given art and leather craftwork classes with other children from the village at the gallery Workshop Wales, and after seeing such a master at work I was hooked ! I knew that is what I wanted to do.
In recent years I have sold original artwork, commissions, cards and prints and now also teach art classes for adults.
I always try to give each of my paintings an individual identity, each painting needs to be worked in different ways to be ‘brought out’ from the canvas.  What I imagine when I paint is what the finished picture will look like, so when I construct my work it is layer by layer building up definition, finding the bones to add structure, adding layers of colour and texture through crosshatching, paint splattering anything that I feel that will give depth and reality to my final piece…..
I mainly use acrylics for my paintings but sometimes an object or composition will need an injection of different mediums that I always have at the ready to help me complete the vision which I see as my final piece .
